DetroitPhotoClub is a friendly space for photographers at every level to share their best shots, vote on favorites, and learn from one another. We welcome first time phone shooters and experienced camera users alike, and we focus on clear ideas, strong composition, and honest edits. Each month we host themed submissions across three Detroit sports categories: Lions, Tigers, and Pistons. Use team colors and simple backgrounds to make your subject pop, and look for gestures that read fast, like a clap, a cheer, or a windup on the mound. Keep edits faithful to the scene, and avoid heavy composites or AI images. Be respectful when people are recognizable and ask for permission when needed. For smooth loading, keep each file under 1 MB and use clear filenames with no spaces. Add accurate alt text and a short title so every image on the site is accessible. Our goal is simple. Shoot often, share what you learn, and enjoy the creative energy of Detroit.
Before you dive in, read the Rules, browse our Categories, and submit your photo directly from the site. The Rules explain file formats, size limits, and fair play expectations so judging stays consistent. The Categories page includes practical tips for each theme so you can plan a clean frame before you press the shutter. When you are ready, attach your image and caption through the Submit page and watch for a confirmation from the admin. You can also join our Live Chat to meet other members, swap tips, and plan group shoots around the city and metro parks. After entries are posted, review the current set on the Vote page and cast one ballot for the image that tells the clearest story. At the end of the cycle we announce winners and move them to the Gallery with author credit. Bring your curiosity, your best effort, and a positive attitude, and help us build a club that makes everyone better.
