About TidyUp!

How TidyUp! Works

TidyUp! is a C++ console game that transforms everyday chores into short missions. The game begins in the Living Room, where players face five tasks. Each completed task awards +10 points. Once 50 points are earned, you can "upgrade" to unlock the next room. This cycle repeats across five unique rooms, each with its own set of focused chores. Instead of tackling an entire house in one overwhelming stretch, progress is made in small, satisfying bursts.

The gameplay loop is simple: pick a task, finish it, earn points, and choose whether to keep cleaning in the same room or spend your points to move forward. A save system records your total points, current room, and which tasks you've already finished, so you can exit anytime and resume later. This keeps the experience lightweight, rewarding, and repeatable.

Why TidyUp! Matters

The inspiration behind TidyUp! came from balancing school, work, and parenting while still trying to keep a household steady. Big cleaning sessions often feel impossible, so the game's design reflects real life: safety (clear walkways and simple tools), speed (tasks you can complete in 5-10 minutes), and sustainability (habits that can be repeated daily). By pairing these principles with game mechanics, TidyUp! makes cleaning less of a burden and more of a challenge you can win.

This matters not just for players of the game, but also for anyone juggling multiple responsibilities. Whether you're a student, a parent, or someone who struggles with overwhelming tasks, breaking big jobs into short missions can make life feel more manageable. That's the spirit behind TidyUp!, it's to show that small wins add up, and that progress is always worth celebrating.
